Make Money While You Travel

Side Gigs for People Who Love to Travel

Love to travel? Know your own city like the back of your hand? Put your love of the road to work for you by showing visitors around or helping them plan their next adventure.

  • Tour Guide – You don’t have to travel to be a tour guide. There are several websites that will put you in touch with people visiting big cities you already know really well because you live or work in and around them. Tours By Locals is a great place to get started. Share your favorite spots or offer a detailed itinerary.
  • Travel Agent – Are you great at finding deals and putting travel packages together? Consider partnering with a local host agency so you can gain access to their systems for additional discounts on airfare, hotels, and more. Some host agencies will allow you to work at home, giving you an even more flexible schedule.
  • Bus Trip Guide – This one isn’t exactly for people who want to put cash in their pockets, but who might want to travel for free or at a discounted rate. A lot of tour groups will run local bus trips – some overnight — to shows or local outlets for shopping. They usually need “tour guides” to run the trip, make sure everyone ends up on the bus, and get people to their destinations and back in a timely manner. Most agencies will let you travel for free if you act as their guide.
