(FinancialHealth.net)- Do you ever feel like you are constantly on the go, but never get anything done? This is what happens when we have too much on our plates. It’s time to slow down and evaluate what’s really going on so that you can make the most of your most valuable commodity… your time.

Learn to Say “No”

One of the easiest words to pronounce is one of the hardest words for some people to say. Just try it for one week if you need to, and you’ll find that you have far more time to yourself. Not only that, but you may realize that much of your time was consumed by people and tasks that weren’t really your responsibility.

Focus on the Basics

Take a look around a small space in your house. Maybe a closet or a drawer. How many things do you have that you don’t really need? A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you have used the item in the past year or so. If not, and it isn’t an heirloom or tool of some sort, free up some space by getting rid of it.

It’s not even just about getting rid of what you don’t need. Once you start clearing the clutter, you’ll be less inclined to add to it. That means you’ll get to put your focus on things that are really important to you.

Use this method in all areas of your life, including your finances. Why pay a cable bill when you never watch television? Why pay fees to make payments on utilities and other things when there may be options for paying bills without added fees? These little things add up like items in a catch-all drawer. Pretty soon, you can’t make heads or tails, but you know you’re out of space… or money, as it were.
