(FinancialHealth.net) – Imagine waking up, checking your bank account and seeing hundreds of dollars have vanished from the balance. That’s what happened to many Chase Bank customers recently. The financial institution says there’s a simple explanation for it, though.
On June 28, Chase customers started posting on Twitter about their account balances showing the wrong total.
Really @Chase @ChaseSupport… nobody manning the phones or digital support until tomorrow morning!? I like thousands of others have a mortgage payment due this week that just disappeared from my account overnight #chasebank

#chasebank Missing $1,000 from my bank account, the app "can't connect with Chase," and online banking isn't even showing transactions from days ago. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT??

Customers woke up to an alert on their Chase app that said parts of it were unavailable. Later that morning, the bank’s Twitter account said a “technical issue” delayed updates, but the issue was resolved and accounts were showing “current balances.”
We know some customers reporting seeing incorrect balances in their checking account overnight. This was caused by a technical issue that delayed updates on what displayed on Chase Mobile & Chase Online. We resolved this issue as of 9AM ET and accounts now show current balances.

Judging by the comments section under the bank’s explanation, a lot of customers aren’t buying it. They believe something else was going on. However, Chase maintains it was just technical difficulties and nothing more.
