Outside the Box Thinking Saves Money

(FinancialHealth.net) – Sometimes what everyone else is doing simply isn’t good enough. For those with serious financial goals to accomplish, saving more money might require thinking outside the box.

These are financial tips for those who are already switching to LED, clipping coupons, carpooling to work and making car improvements to save on gas. The following small changes could help save some major cash.

Baking

Even the most unappealing bread at the store costs around $2 a loaf. For those who prefer a heartier bread with more nutritional value, that cost can easily be $5 or more.

Learning to bake bread could be a good way to save a little dough without compromising health or taste. A really great loaf of made-from-scratch bread will cost about $1. This could save as little as $1 or as much as $4 a loaf, which adds up over time.

Less Water

Each toilet flush uses between 1.6 and 4 gallons of water. An old trick using a recycled water bottle could cut back on a toilet’s water use.

Drop a handful of rocks into the bottom of an empty soda or water bottle and add the lid. Place the water bottle inside the tank of the toilet. This displaces the water, decreasing the amount that is needed to fill the toilet. Some estimate this trick could save as much as $100 a year!

Rise With the Sun

How could going to bed earlier possibly save money? It’s all about working around the sunlit hours.

Head to bed when the sun goes down to avoid using unnecessary electricity. Plan to get up with the sun and become productive earlier. This method makes it easier to get as much as possible done with use of the daylight. It may be surprising to find out just how much can be done without flipping on a light!

Conserve Water

Over 70% of Americans shower every single day. For those who aren’t working seriously dirty jobs, a daily shower or bath might be unnecessary.

Consider cutting down to a shower every other day. This will prove beneficial when the water bill comes as well as saving small amounts of shampoo and other self-care products, too.

It’s possible to save money without making massive lifestyle changes. Small and sustainable changes can be adopted one at a time but they’ll eventually add up for major savings!
